Interview with Senior Program Manager of Waterpik

Can you briefly present what you do and what kind of projects you manage?

At Waterpik we produce shower and oral health products. I am the project coordinator for the shower and oral health teams. I assist in creating project schedules, managing project schedules and information, generating monthly reports, and assisting users with Sciforma questions and use.

How did you manage your projects before Sciforma?

We used the previous version of Sciforma called PS8.

What made you choose to upgrade to Sciforma?

Cost and ease of implementation were some deciding factors. Also, the report generation capabilities and information storage had an impact on the decision. We needed software that could efficiently generate a 70-100 page report and a place to hold and access the most current information.

Without Sciforma there would be a lot more micromanaging and constant face to face reminders of tasks and due dates.

Benefits and Next Steps

What benefits can you observe?

The main benefit is that we have one location to get and store information. For example, we store the latest revision of documents in Sciforma so that is no confusion on where a file is saved or what the latest version is.

We have also setup email task reminders which will send automatic emails reminding the assigned user of upcoming tasks and information about the task. It also acts as a prompt to let the project manager know when the task is approaching and what has been completed. This alleviates the need for constant face to face reminding of upcoming tasks and due dates. We also like the benefit of the report capabilities. As I stated before we have a monthly 70-100 page report that is generated by Sciforma. I only have to click a few buttons and the report is generated. I would like to see a spell checker added to Sciforma to avoid some of the manual file transfer to spell checker software.

Are you considering increasing the number of users or features you are currently using?

My goal is to continue to evaluate the new features and figure out how we can add use them for our needs. I’ve been working with our sales representative to get an understanding of what Sciforma can actually do and how I can customize it for Waterpik. He has been very helpful and set aside time to talk about and demonstrate Sciforma features.

What would your job be like without Sciforma?

Without Sciforma there would be a lot more micromanaging and constant face to face reminders of tasks and due dates. There would be confusion on the latest and most up to date information because data and documents would be stored in multiple places by multiple users.
